Hoku-Loi Polynesian DancersHawaiian dance from the island of Hawaii
Description: Hula/Kahiko (old style) is chanting in traditional costume performed along with percussion such as with the implement ipu heke (hollowed gourd). Hula auana (modern style) is accompanied by songs, ukuleles, guitars, and other instruments.

Tahitian dance from the island of Tahiti
Description: The 'Ote'a is a dance which uses quick and defined hip movements following to the sounds of the Tahitian drumbeats. The Aparima means the "kiss of hands": 'apa (kiss) rima (hands). It is a dance that tells a story which is sung and accompanied with modern instruments (guitar / ukulele).

Maori dance from the island of New Zealand
Description: The Maori dances performed by females use implements such the poi balls which are twirled to simulate the sound of flying birds, of the surf or other sounds. The Maori males perform warrior chants.

Fijian dance from the island of Fiji

Description: Men perform club and spear dances while women do the fan dances. The dancers are nearly always costumed in grass skirts with decorative arm and wrist bands, their bodies oiled, faces painted and hair decorated in flowers, shells or other woven ornaments.
